The Hart House is not only an award winning restaurant inside an over 100-year-old, gorgeous tudor-style heritage building; it’s also in a picture perfect location in Burnaby, B.C. overlooking the water in Deer Lake Park. Hands down, it’s a vintage bride’s dream Vancouver wedding venue.
The thirteen-acre estate on which Hart House stands was first purchased by New Westminster businessman Frederick Hart in 1906. Over the years it was passed down, renovated, and renowned for its beautiful iris gardens, where weddings are now held. The restaurant was opened in 1988 and the combination of its magnificent setting, outstanding cuisine, and warm, friendly service continues to enchant Hart House guests year after year.
Its central location is easily accessible from the highway, making it a very convenient location from downtown Vancouver and all neighbouring communities. It also has its own parking lot with free parking for your guests. The restaurant is just steps away from the very picturesque Burnaby Village Museum, a perfect location for a wedding photo shoot for any vintage couple. The Burnaby Village Museum is filled with 1920′s inspired heritage buildings and a carousel, which you’ll see featured in our upcoming Winter 2013 issue of Heirloom! For your out of town guests, there are lots of hotels and B&B’s nearby.
Best of all, the stunning Hart House Restaurant can host your ceremony and reception, hence making it a one-stop-shop for your big day. They only host one wedding or event at a time in order to give you their full attention to make sure your day is perfect.

After discussing with you how you would like the space to be arranged, we place the cake table, guest book table, and gift table. We also prepare an elegantly-appointed Head Table for the members of your wedding party.”
For your ceremony, chairs for your guests as well as a registry table are provided. Ceremony fees depend on your number of guests. Between fifty to one hundred guests is $200, and below fifty, your fee is just $100. For your reception they provide full service of tables, chairs, white table linens, china, cutlery, and glassware.
In peak season, for a daytime ceremony with a lunch reception you have access to the venue from 11 AM-4PM with two hours set up time prior to the start of your event. The rental fee for the dining room is $800 and the minimum food and beverage spend is $4,000 for an indoor lunch reception in their dining room that seats 80 guests.
Evening events start at 5pm and end at midnight. Events may have an earlier start time but additional fees apply. During the off season, there are other gorgeous rooms available for your wedding. The Rosedale Room, which rents for $400 and seats 80 guests and the Cottage, which rents for $300 and seats 32 guests. There is also the option of an outdoor reception held under marquee tents, where rental fees apply.

The menu options are all local Pacific Northwest cuisine and you have the option of a plated menu ($48-56 per person) or a buffet style ($49-68 per person). Hart House’s wedding coordinator will work with you on creating a menu to suit your needs and budget, and you can taste the food at your complimentary dinner!
