Once a day to honour the aging veterans of the Second World War and Korea, Remembrance Day is now a day for remembering those who gave their lives for the newer conflicts of date. Eleven years and 158 Canadian deaths later, the war in Afghanistan has given rise to Silver Cross mothers who are still so young, and it’s a sombering thought as I took a moment at 11:11 on November 11th with my husband.
Today at Heirloom, we too will take a moment to appreciate the peace that we now enjoy so freely. We give thanks to those who fight for us – then, now and in the days to follow.
