Pastels and pies and everything nice came together for this beautiful DIY wedding at the Brock House Restaurant, one of Vancouver’s most sought after wedding venues because of its ocean view. We love the details captured by Blush Wedding Photography!
In the bride’s words :
“Ian and I grew into adulthood together, and so the vision for the wedding was not really a vision per se, but merely a potpourri of who we have become, both as individuals and as a couple.
I love soft flowers and vintage decor, and Ian loves outdoor barbeques with family+friends, and as a couple, we love being in a social atmosphere with lively music, good food and good drinks. Looking back, it felt like the perfect “us” day – handmade, comfortable, relaxed.
Much of the wedding was DIY. My parents and I found the silver pieces, tarnished and unwanted at the Vancouver Flea Market and thrift stores, and simply polished them up. I found a framed chalkboard on Craigslist and used ivory spray paint on vividly-coloured birdcages found at Homesense. My Mom made a spectacular three-tier lemon buttercream cake. My sisters and I ordered the flowers from Costco and made the table arrangements the day before. My parents and I also made the guest gifts ourselves with Italian confetti in white linen boxes. The delicious homemade cookies were care of Angelina, who has been my family’s neighbour for my entire lifetime.
We were also extremely fortunate in that Brock House has such a spectacular view of Vancouver that rendered decorations almost unnecessary. The weather was perfect, with dappled sunlight for the ceremony and a cool breeze from the Burrard Inlet swept in for the afternoon reception. Paired with an outdoor grill and bar, it felt like a summer barbeque in our back yard. The only missing piece was a couple of dogs chasing the bocce balls rolling across the lawn.”
